A Life of Drawing

The drawings in this exhibit were created with an expressive humanist intent. They were conceived in the absence of a model, with the exception of an articulated skeleton, which I relied on for many of The Plague Drawings.

This show includes drawings created in response to the AIDS pandemic, the degradation of the environment, and the plight of the homeless on our streets.

Artist Talk: Saturday September 19th, 2pm

THIS MONTH WE ARE SHOWCASING CLINT BROWN

Blackfish is very priviledged to showcase the work of Clink Brown. As a lifelong artist, Clint has shown us a world of imagination and beauty. He has excelled as an artist like no other.

People I’ve known

In my native Hoopa language, kiwhliw means “he who paints.”  I am a painter.  I am also Native American, raised on the Hoopa Valley Reservation in Northern California. To begin work on this collection of portraits, I looked to archival photographs of Native Americans. In the process of sketching the faces I selected, I began to know them. My hope is that as you come away from this exhibit, you too will feel you’ve found someone you’ve known.

Artist Talk: Wednesday, September 16th, 6 PM
