Quiet Migrations

Quiet Migrations follows the journey of searching for truth, not unlike the allegory of Plato’s Cave. Migrations also refers to movement in the natural world, where humans and animals move unbound by the illusions of borders. The work reflects on identity, in the perception of self and how our surroundings experience us.

Monica uses drawing, assemblage and music to create a deeply personal installation that illuminates a reality she did not fully see until her recent ADHD diagnosis and treatments.

By layering old maps and migratory diagrams, Escobar’s work connects the seasonal routes of species like monarch butterflies with the quiet, often overlooked journeys of human migration.

Places Between Us

As a mixed media artist, I attempt to weave a visual history by creating a multilayered representation where I make a connection between two different narratives. Some elements in my collages come from allegorical mythological images, still frame cinema and vintage photographs.

Places Between Us

My work explores the conversation between anatomy and landscape—the relationship between the body and its environment. I am interested in how our bodies respond to the places we enter, and how certain locations can evoke physical sensations, emotions, and memories.

Expectant

New abstract sculptures by Benjamin Mefford.  Through an organic process of free carving, the sculptures are an intuitive expression of the artist's subconscious.  Collectively the works speak to moments of promise.
