CARLOS MOLINA

As a mixed media artist, I attempt to weave a visual history by creating a multilayered representation where usually I try to make a connection between two different narratives. The elements included in my collages come from allegorical mythological images, still frame cinema and vintage photographs.

I primarily work with acrylic and oil, but I also incorporate unconventional materials, such as puzzle pieces and bottle caps, which add complexity and dimension to my compositions.

Through my artwork, I aim to explore the interplay between constructed spaces and the life around them that create character and meaning. Mythological imagery is purposely used as reference to approach to themes that are always present in artistic creation such as life and death, time, love and desire, and subjects that are present in human existence.
