Panel Discussion: Proper Care and Feeding of Young Artists
Saturday, July 7 at 3 pm

Learn how young artists are making it work to make art, and how to support them.

In conjunction with our 23rd annual Recent Graduates Exhibition, Blackfish Gallery is hosting a panel discussion that explores what exhibiting and selling work looks like for a new generation of artists. The white box still holds sway, public exhibitions continue, but digital technology has opened up a variety of means for artists to directly connect with an audience. How do young artists engage with these new models? What else are they doing that audiences may not be aware of? Come learn about the latest ways to connect to and collect from savvy young artists.

Panelists:
Trécha Dacres (Recent Graduates Exhibition 2018, BFA Marylhurst University)
Hannah Bakken (Recent Graduates Exhibition 2017, BFA Southern Oregon University, 2019 MFA candidate Pacific Northwest College of Art)
Rachel Mulder (BFA 2007, Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design)
Rachel Peterson Schmerge (Recent Graduates Exhibition 2012, BA Reed College)

Moderators:
Paul Missal and Damara Bartlett

This panel discussion is part of the PADA's Art Conversations 2018, a monthly series of gallery talks focused on art collecting and the arts ecology of our city, continuing through December 2018.

Light refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.
